Slalom School Coach Award Training

The England Talent Canoe Slalom Programme supports informal coach development opportunities through our Slalom School programme. This year we will be further supporting this through the provision of formal coach qualification opportunities.

English club members will have access to a British Canoeing Awarding Body Slalom Coach training course and core coaching course delivered through the England Talent Programme Slalom School Programme. The core coach training will be delivered online, and the discipline specific training will be delivered over a Slalom School weekend at two different venues, HPP and Matlock, on June 4th and 5th. Some willing athletes will be required to attend as part of the Matlock day so there is opportunity for some club athletes to also attend.

The Slalom Coach qualification is designed for people who coach paddlers who want to gain/improve their Slalom skills. This will include coaching beginners new to slalom as well as paddlers looking to develop their skills.

There is no age restriction for training, although you will need to be 16 at the time of assessment. All you need is British Canoeing ‘On the Water’ membership. This opportunity will be suitable for the aspiring coach, the parent that wants to get involved more and/or the developing athlete who is looking to gain a coaching qualification.
