Short Notice Division 4 Slaloms

Division 4 is the entry level to the slalom ranking list. Division 4 slaloms can be organised at short notice to give paddlers a "taster" and increase the opportunities for people to enter the ranking system. Page 50 of the yearbook contains more information on applying to run these events.

Such slaloms are "short notice", not short course: as with any slalom they can be run over up to 25 gates, but to make it easier to run them  they can be as short as 12 gates, at least 4 of them upstream gates.

Timing can be as simple as a pair of synchronised stopwatches. If it is available, TUTTI can be requested.

If a club wants to organise a division 4 slalom, they must confirm that the event will not adversely affect any other event:

There must be no other division 4 events being run on the same day within 90 minutes’ drive of the proposed event.

Written permission must be obtained from the organisers of any other ranking events within 90 minutes’ drive on the same day.

Apply to the Managed Calendar Officer  with information about the event, and any permissions required.

For insurance purposes the organising club must be registered with the slalom committee. If your club is not registered, contact the Slalom Committee Secretary  to register.

In all other ways (quorum, promotion etc) the normal division 4 rules apply.
